Art is a form of communication and expression. It allows you to shape your thoughts, feelings, and opinions on a blank piece of canvas. Since the 1900s, art is used to raise one’s oppressed opinions and share them with the world.

Graffiti: An expressive form of art or Public vandalism?
Graffiti can be an expressive form of art or not, it depends on the way it is carried out. Graffiti art can be impactful for the viewers and can also be vulgar. Many artists try to communicate positive thoughts through slogans or designs while some also misuse them by using violent language.
Dance, music, and theatre are ways through which one can express their thoughts to their audience, but graffiti is a form of art that leaves an everlasting impact on society.

A well-illustrated and powerful message was sent by Rasmus Balstrom in the tough times of a global pandemic. He is a self-taught artist and an illustrator from Copenhagen, Denmark. He painted it to express his thoughts and feelings on staying safe before he had to flee from LA.
Can graffiti be offensive?
Graffiti can also damage one’s property if done without the permission of the owner. It can be offensive, racial, and abusive to a group of individuals. During elections, political parties draw and paint their party symbols and slogans without taking prior permission from the property owner which can be stated as a form of vandalism.
Final thoughts:
Regardless of the constant misuse of the art by gangs to mark their territory, graffiti has become a rich medium to express the oppressed and restrictive thoughts.
Criminal vandalism or an artistic expression, graffiti remains a form of visually appealing art.
